How do I qualify for the Energy Savings Assistance Program?
Check out our How To Qualify page which has more information about program qualification. You may also contact us.
How long does it take to see if I qualify?
Faster than you might think! Once you speak with one of our EASE Home Energy Specialists, we can typically determine if you pre-qualify within just a few minutes.
If you pre-qualify, the next step is a Home Assessment. We will work with you to schedule a visit from one of our EASE of CA, Edison, or SoCalGas badged and certified Home Assessors. During this visit, they will:
- Perform a thorough walk-through of your home.
- Verify final eligibility requirements.
- Identify exactly which upgrades (such as AC, refrigerators, weatherization, etc) your specific household is eligible to receive.
Since every home is unique, your assessor will create a personalized plan to maximize your energy savings.
How long does it take to receive installation services?
Due to the volume of program participants, receiving an appointment can take days to weeks. The good news is we have different teams that come out and perform different services including: Home Assessment, Weatherization, Attic Insulation, and specific Appliance Installations, & more. This is to keep our schedules as available as possible to ensure prompt scheduling of service.
Our ability to schedule appointments is based on a combination of our availabilty as well as yours. The more flexibile your schedule, the more likely we are to be able to schedule you quickly.
Ensuring that you write down or calendar your appointments to prevent cancellations & reschedules will greatly increase your time of service as well.
I didn't qualify, what now?
Don't worry—there are still several ways we can help you lower your energy costs! If your household income is slightly above the ESA guidelines, you may still qualify for other California assistance initiatives:
- CARE & FERA Programs: You may still be eligible for a monthly discount of 20% to 35% on your electric and gas bills.
- Tax Credits & Rebates: Under the Federal Inflation Reduction Act and local utility programs, there are significant rebates available for "high-efficiency" upgrades like Heat Pump Water Heaters and HVAC systems that aren't tied to strict income limits.
- A Custom Energy Assessment: Even without a government program, we can provide a consultation to identify the "low-hanging fruit" in your home—like LED lighting or smart thermostats—that pay for themselves quickly in energy savings.
Give us a call anyway! Our team stays up-to-date on all California energy programs. Even if the ESA program isn't the right fit today, we can often find another program or rebate that helps you save.
Is there a warranty on the new appliances?
Yes. Appliances installed through the ESA program typically come with a manufacturer’s warranty, and the installation work itself is backed by a limited labor warranty (usually 1 year). We’ll provide you with all the paperwork and contact numbers for support after the installation is complete.
